A Floristic Study on Marine Benthic Algae of Yongil Bay and Adjacent Areas , Eastern Coast of Korea

ABSTRACT |
The flora and phenology of marine algae in Yongil Bay, eastern coast of Korea, were investigated seasonally at 12 sites during May, 1985-February, 1986. As a result, 168 sepcies in total, 4 blue-greens, 19 greens, 37 browns and 108 reds, were indentified. Among them, Calothrix codicola Setchell et Gardner was recorded for the first time in Korea. The algal flora of Yongil Bay along inner coast was comparatively poorer than outer coast. the common species occurring frequently in thsi area through the year were Ulva pertusa, Desmarestia viridis, Gelidium amansii, Grateloupia prolongata, G. turuturu, Pachymeniospsis lanceolata, Schizymenia dubyi, Gymnogongrus flabelliformis, Chondrus ocellatus,, Lomentaria catenata, L. hakodatensis and Acrosorium polyneurum.
