ABSTRACT
Standing crop of phytoplankton was studied at four stations in Lake Yongsan, Korea from October 1986 to June 1987. Uneven distribution of phytoplankton standing crop was evident ; station 1 at the riverine of the lake showed high while station 4 located near the irver barrier showed low standing crop. Chlorophyll α concentration ranged 0.12-6.78 mg/m3 throughout the study period and showed a late summer peak and following late spring burst. Results from cell count and chlorophyll α content demonstrated that these distributions tend to increase with increasing distance from the river barrier. Correlation between chlorophyll α and cell count of Bacillariophyceae was significant. Diversity indices were relatively low.
