ABSTRACT
Micromorphology of Gomphonema nipponicum Skv. and G. vibrio Ehr. Was investigated. There was no basic difference between them except for the size and shape of valve and striae density. They could be divided from G. intricatum Kutz. by the stigmoid position. Gomphonema nipponicum was not an independent taxon of G. intricatum Kutz. var. vibrio (Ehr) Cl. f. subcapitatum Mayer; thus the new combination, Gomphonema vibrio Ehr. var. subcapitatum (Mayer) Lee was proposed.
